About Khan Bank

Khan Bank's head office is located in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar and includes all executive and administrative offices. There are 21 regional offices throughout the country, each of which supervises an additional 15 to 25 smaller offices in its area. The regional offices are fully automated centers for consolidation of the region's activities, and are connected to the head office by satellite. Each also directly serves the banking needs of a community of 15,000 to 60,000 people.

Even the smallest offices, with a two or three person staff and minimal overhead, offer full banking services to their local communities.

Khan Bank currently has over 2953 employees -300 are based in Ulaanbaatar at the head office and local branches, and the balance in the 436 offices of which 234 are online.

Khan Bank is recognized as an industry leader in the design and delivery of financial services in Mongolia. It has a well trained and highly educated staff of motivated bankers who are moving Khan Bank and Mongolia to new levels of banking.

Khan Bank's roots, go back 80 years to the State Bank of Mongolia. When this monopoly Bank was broken up in 1991, Khan Bank was formed to take over most of its offices throughout the country.

Confidentiality & Transparency Policy

Khan Bank values and respects our customers. We adhere to the following policies on confidentiality and transparency:

  • All employees of Khan Bank Offices shall serve customers equally and openly without any discrimination as to age, race, sex, occupation, official position, economic status, religion or party membership.

  • Khan Bank employees shall not favor customers because they are friends or relatives, nor shall they have any financial interest in customers or receive any payments, gifts or other benefits from them.

  • Neither KhanBank nor any employee shall accept or pay bribes under any circumstances with any person or organization.

  • Bank employees shall not use any information on customer accounts, deposits or transactions for personal gain nor disclose such information to any individual or other entity except as provided by law or as required by execution of a court decision.

  • No bank employee shall process any transactions from customer accounts or deposits without the consent of the customer, nor suspend such transactions except as required by an official notification from a tax officer, social insurance officer, bailiff or other official acting in a legal capacity.


    Khan Bank customers may request the freely available full version of the confidentiality Policy from any of the Bank's offices. Awards received in 2004

The Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry conferred Bank of the Year award on the Khan Bank.

The Consumer interest protection society granted the honor of “Organization protecting consumer interests” to Khan Bank.

The honor of Best bank of Mongolia in 2004 was conferred on Khan bank by the Global Finance magazine based in New York, USA based on the criteria of assets growth, profitability, strategic partnership, customer service, competitive price and new product development.

Awards received in 2005

The honor of Best bank of Mongolia was conferred on Khan bank for the second consecutive year by the Global Finance magazine based in New York, USA in March 2005.

The Banker magazine of Great Britain granted the prestigious award of Best Banker of Mongolia in 2005 to Khan Bank in September 2005. The award which is presented to the best bank of each country in a particular year is prestigious in the global financial world.

In December, for the second year in a row, Khan Bank was named "First Among the Top Five Banks in Mongolia" by the Government of Mongolia in concert with the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In June, President N. Bagabandi presented Khan Bank CEO J. Peter Morrow the "Friendship" medal, the highest award given to foreign citizens, and a very special honor.
